The Dutch government has plans for drilling gas in protected areas of the North Sea, such as above Schiermonnikoog. The LNG import terminal Gate in Rotterdam is being expanded and there are plans for a new LNG terminal in Vlissingen. We find ourselves in the middle of climate breakdown. Drilling new gas fields and expanding LNG infrastructure are climate crimes. There is no such thing as clean gas!

Our dependence on fossil fuels makes our government forgiving towards regimes in cases of war crimes, ethnic cleansing and genocide. By importing gas from Israeli-controlled areas, the Netherlands finances and supports the genocide in Gaza. Also: the Netherlands still exports weapons to Israel. This must stop! We stand in solidarity with the resistance of indigenous peoples, the Palestinian people and all frontline communities whose suffering is caused or exacerbated by the fossil fuel industry. 

To achieve energy security and a just transition for workers, we must shut down the fossil fuel industry. We need to use less energy and have a strong focus on renewable sources, that are managed, owned and constructed in a just way. We cannot allow companies to extract resources for Tesla's and other green capitalist nonsense while disrespecting indigenous sovereignty and the rights of local communities.

Geef Tegengas unites people fighting against gas in the Netherlands. We are building a movement with the power to block the fossil fuel industry. Together we can ensure a just transition for all!

The gas industry makes billions of euros each year at the cost of people and nature. They must take responsibility! The damage caused by the capitalist system and the environmental racism it is based on should come to an end. The damages of the earthquakes in Groningen are still not repaired, nor is the destruction in other parts of the world. All damage caused by the fossil based capitalist system should be repaired.
